The purpose of this project is to provide one-time small grants, in the amount of $500-2500, to Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) lactation support persons, birth workers, and BIPOC led public health and community based organizations that are working with and providing direct services to pregnant and postpartum BIPOC people and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.   

You may be eligible to apply if you are:

Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Birth Worker(s) (e.g. lactation support persons, doulas, midwives, etc.) and BIPOC led public health and community-organizations.

Providing perinatal services and support to marginalized communities and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based in the United States and U.S. territories and commonwealths.

California Black Infant Health Program

Yes, you can apply as an individual or an organization.

No, not at this time. We are only accepting one application per person.

• There are six priority areas for this fund:
  • Purchase of technological resources, software, or devices (e.g. tablets, smartphones, hotspots, headsets, Zoom or GoToMeeting subscriptions, etc.)
  • Purchase of Telehealth platform(s)
  • Cover consultation fees to enable free support to clients
  • Purchase of Target, Walmart, Safeway, etc. gift cards for client needs
  • Purchase of birth, breastfeeding, and lactation resources (e.g. nipple shields, diapers, wipes, bottles, infant scales, etc.)
  • Cover promotion, marketing materials, and website updates

One-time, small grants are being offered in the amounts of - $500, $1000, $1500, $2000, $2500. Any projects requesting more than $2500 will not be considered.

The applications will be open from Monday, May 11, 2020 and close on Friday, May 22, 2020. All applications are due on Friday, May 22, 2020 by 11:59PST.

We will contact you within a month after the corresponding application deadline. For instance, the application deadline is May 22, 2020. Award notificiations will begin on June 20, 2020 and continue until the end of July. 

Once selected, we will reach out with a grant agreement to be signed and W-9 form. We will also need your organization’s PayPal information or mailing address. Once the agreement is signed, W-9 received, and we have your payment info; we can begin the process for payment dissemination.

Yes, a short evaluation report will be due 3 months after the dissemination of the funds.  

If you were to receive the funds directly as an individual and not through a non-profit organization (or have us purchase the requested items), then yes the Grantee will have to pay taxes on the award.

No, this relief fund is providing one-time, small grants. Grant renewals or multiple applications will not be considered at this time.
